A wise old owl

A WISE OLD OWL

    Today’s question:

How come people have come to think of owls as being wise birds?
I don’t understand why you said “have come to think…” Maybe you didn’t mean it that way, but it sounds like you think this is sort of a recent development.
Owls have been considered symbols of reason way back to ancient Greece.

In Greek mythology, the goddess Athene was thought to symbolize wisdom and was often depicted with an owl nearby. That probably was inspired by the owls’ big eyes and solemn appearance. The Greeks also thought owls had some sort of inner light that let them see at night.
